Question: why do you have to have net calories? Say I have a BMR of 1350 and work off 500. I have to eat 1750 in order for my net to be 1200. But isn't that counterproductive for weight loss? Aren't you just eating it all back?

I was just wondering if you would maybe have some tips for a girl who wants to get in shape to try out for a girl's tackle football team. I have a free membership at the gym I work at but I've never lifted by myself before, I've always been with a team, so I'm not really sure where to start or what kind of lifting to do.
